Mirtha Vásquez

Prime Minister of Peru (2021-2022)

Mirtha Vásquez served as Prime Minister of Peru from 2021 to 2022.

Born in 1975 in Cajamarca, Vàsquez went on to earn a law degree from the National University of Cajamarca and later a master’s degree in social management at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

Vásquez has been a lecturer at the National University of Cajamarca. She worked as an attorney and executive secretary for Grufides, a think-tank focused on human rights and environmental protection. She has worked for the Association for Human Rights and served on the Board of Directors of the National Coordinator of Human Rights.

In 2020, Vásquez was elected as a member of Congress, representing the Cajamarca constituency as well as the Broad Front Coalition. Later that year, she became the First Vice President of Congress as well as Acting President of Congress.
