Natalia Gavrilița
Prime Minister of Moldova (2021-2023)
Natalia Gavrilița assumed office as the 15th Prime Minister, and third woman Prime Minister, of Moldova on August 6th, 2021 and left office on February 16th, 2023.
Gavrilița has had a long history in economics and politics. Earlier in her career, Gavrilița served as the Head of the Department for Economic Forecasts and Development Programs in the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. She has also worked within the State Chancellery, for Oxford Policy Management, and the Ministry of Education. Gavrilița was also the Executive Director of the World Bank’s Education Reform Project.
Just before she held political office, Gavrilița was the Managing Director of the Global Fund for Innovation. During this time, Gavrilița managed projects in several developing countries. In 2019, Gavrilița served as the Minister of Finance for Moldova. In 2021, Gavrilița was nominated by President of Moldova Maia Sandu, for the position of Prime Minister of Moldova.
Gavrilița graduated from Moldova State University with a bachelor’s degree in International Law. Her Excellency also earned a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University. Gavrilița is fluent in Romanian, Russian, English, French, and Spanish.
