Pamela Gordon-Banks

Premier of Bermuda (1997-1998)

Pamela Gordon-Banks was the first woman and the youngest person to hold the Premier position in Bermuda from 1997 to 1998. 

Dame Gordon-Banks earned her college degree in commerce and MBA from Queen’s University Canada. Prior to entering politics, Gordon owned and managed a restaurant. Gordon was appointed to the Senate in 1990, serving as the Minister of Youth Development (1992-1995) and Minister of Environment, Planning and Recreation (1993-1995). In 2004, Dame Gordon-Banks was honored as a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth. 

Dame Gordon-Banks has been active in a number of organizations and campaigns concerning gender equality. ​She chaired the Scholarship committee of the Montpelier Foundation and serves on the Queen’s University Smith School of Business Global Council. Additionally, sheis currently serving as the Chair of the Selection Committee for the Rhodes Scholarship Global Constituency.,
